gypsy folk punk
I was glued...Sarah commands the mic as an Emiliana Torrini would, and not with a soulful shyness, but a soulful propensity like she doesn't have any other way. She is strong and efficient...She is fearless on stage...I can tell she believes it.’   - Miles Love
slp's voice, with its three octave range, has been called "angelic" and "bird-like", "soulful" and "desperate", and lends to quiet folk contemplation, shocking soul, and raw punk sounds. Sincere, striking songs, charismatic performances, and lyrics informed by her MFA in poetry have won her stage time in Colorado, Texas, New York, Vermont, and Minnesota, on stages at the Lyons Folks Fest, New West Fest, the Mercury Café, BKLYN's Trash Bar and Boston's Lizard Lounge. She is a Front Range studio musician and accompanist, saxophonist and pianist, and has shared the stage with Raina Rose, Danny Shafer, Ramaya Soskin, and Jonathan Byrd.
slp's studio album widow’s daughter was released in June 2011 to strong reviews in Colorado Music Buzz and the Marquee; the opening track "Nevertheless, Love" spent 7 weeks in the Indie Radio Countdown Top Ten, reaching number 3; the album spun on the Colorado Sound.
'At its best, it is easy to envision slp's voice coming from an antique radio.' -Brian F. Johnson, editor, the Marquee
